Our Fall Newsletter
Fall
Dear Wagner Homeowner:
I am pleased to take this opportunity to thank each of
you for your confidence in our team. We value you and your family as partners
in the success of our company. It is important to us that you are happy with
your home and that it is well maintained. Home maintenance and service has
always been a vital component of Wagner Homes. We are dedicated to help in
any way we can. With this in mind, I wanted to send a reminder of fall maintenance
recommendations.
- Clean and test smoke alarms.
- Test and reset ground fault circuit interrupters
(GFCI) breakers.
- Change and clean the furnace filter.
- Operate the heating system.
- Adjust registers and confirm that cold
air returns are clear of furniture or draperies.
- Check the fit of exterior doors; thresholds
are adjustable - use a quarter to turn the screws.
- Drain your sprinkler system.
- Remove hoses from exterior faucets.
- "Freeze proof" faucets can suffer a broken
water line if the water in the hose freezes and expands into
the pipe.
- Inspect chimney for nests.
- Review safe fireplace operation. Provide
professional cleaning at regular intervals.
- Check garage overhead door, tighten bolts
as needed, and lubricate springs with motor oil. Have other
repairs done by professionals.
- Clean gutters, check downspouts; confirm
that splashblocks drain away from the house.
- Check foundation, concrete, and yard settling;
fill in as needed for positive drainage.
- After snowfall, brush snow off gutters
and away from downspouts.
- Remove ice and snow from concrete as soon
as possible; avoid using de-icing agents with damaging salts.
- On pleasant days, open windows to allow
your home to breathe.
- Decorate safely for the holidays. Do not
overload circuits or use worn extension cords.
If you have questions please refer to your Wagner
Homeowner Manual, Caring for Your Home, or call me at (219) 465-1995,
extension 15 for service assistance.
Sincerely,
Leila Buford
